Cook Strait Classic

Wanderers CC Kindred
v United Country ^ Vineyards CC
Black Cottage – Marlborough

Over Wellington Anniversary weekend, our Wanderers CC Kindred Team, travelled to Blenheim along with their families to visit Black Cottage and take on the United Country and Vineyards team. A huge thank you to Dave Clouston and the entire United Country and Vineyards team, families and local community for some of the most welcoming and generous hospitality over the weekend. We feel very privileged and grateful to be invited to such a unique place to play cricket. And what a memorable game it was. The first match for the inaugural Cook Strait Classic Cup came down to the last ball of the 80th over to find a winner. With Wanderers CC winning by 1 run as the United Country guys came up agonisingly short. Neither team gave up up and fought to the final over in an absolute thriller. We can’t wait to return the invitation in 2024 when United Country and Vineyards make the trip over the Strait to play for the Cook Strait Classic again.
